I am back after a short delay on the East Coast of America due to a certain Hurricane Irene. Sooo whilst on holiday In America managed to pick up a few things, most notably my new Airbrush! The Thayer and Chandler Omni 4000. I purchased it from Chicago Airbrush Supply online and picked it up from a friend whilst I was out there. I’ve had a short play around with it and from my first impressions I can say it works perfectly, leaps and bounds better than the cheap airbrush I had purchased from ebay. Whilst out their I also managed to take a trip to Michaels Art and Crafts Store, I brought a Royal Soft Grip brush (for drybrushing) and some 2(0z) flip cap bottles to store windolene and water, to use when airbrushing (saves trying to screw of lid of bottles with one hand). I’ve also found a handy dandy new way to store all my hobby tools, which you can see below. Peace XD

So I went into town today and purchased these windsor and newton watercolor paints, I was inspired by this video  Which teaches you how to make washes from oil based paints.

However upon opening the box I realized I had made the wrong purchase, I had brought water color paints thinking they were oil based (facepalm). I am not sure how they will work compared to their oil counterparts. I’ve read somewhere that they work similarly but have to be thinned with distilled water instead of turpentine. In spite of this I am unsure weaver water color paints can be cleaned up with turpentine in the same way oil paints can, this could be a major disadvantage. I shall have to experiment and report back with the results. Anyway here they are, (I also noticed when I got home that the pack didn’t contain black *other facepalm*)

So I haven’t managed to paint much as of late, this is mainly down to the fact that I have nothing left to paint. However I’ll be looking into getting a lot more soon. Namely some Grey Knights and maybe some victrix historical miniatures. In other news the family is getting a large garden shed, what does this mean? Well all the tools an bikes stored in the garage can be moved into this shed. Due to lack of space and clutter around the house my painting area will then be moved into the garage!

It was also my birthday recently and with some of the money I received I managed to pick this off ebay :) This should hopefully result in far better picture quality on this blog. So now there is no excuse for shoddy painting from me! (you’ll be able to see all the mistakes)
